Teeth that cannot be restored due to large fractures or cracks, infected teeth or teeth that are very mobile may be indicated for extractions. At Yonge & Merton Dental, extractions are done usually with local anesthetic only, and in some cases nitrous oxide can be provided for nervous patients. Stitches may be placed afterwards to assist with gum healing, and appropriate medication may be prescribed. Multiple wisdom teeth extractions are normally referred to an oral surgeon (dental specialist), where deeper sedation methods are available.
