Pit and Fissure Sealants
- Tooth decay commonly develops on the chewing surfaces of teeth, which have naturally occurring pits, fissures and grooves. These areas can allow bacteria and food particles to collect causing decay formation. Pit and fissures sealants are a plastic coating applied to the surfaces of the teeth that seal the pits, fissures and grooves, and therefore are an excellent way to prevent tooth decay. It is recommended that children have their permanent molars treated with sealants once the teeth have fully erupted, especially if they are a high risk individual for developing tooth decay.

Fillings
- Fillings can be either white (composite resin), or silver (amalgam). Both are used depending on the specific needs to restore the teeth to normal function and esthetics after the tooth is compromised by decay, fracture, and wear. In addition, composite resins and the bonding technique can be utilized to restore spacing (gaps) and other esthetic problems that may affect your smile.

Crowns
- A crown (also known as a cap) is recommended to restore those teeth in situations where normal fillings can no longer provide long term predictable success. Teeth that have had many fillings over the years as a result of tooth decay or tooth fracture can be restored with crowns. A crown can be made from a variety of materials including all porcelain, porcelain bonded to metal or full gold. It is made to cover the entire tooth and protect it from future fracture and possible loss of tooth. Crowns are custom made providing excellent long term esthetics and function.
